Early 20th C. Orange & Black Halloween Dress Pumpkin Applique & Lace Trim
A truly rare bird, a woman’s Halloween dress in good condition, dating from the early 20th century. It is a “flapper” style, made from black cotton, with lace trim around the edges of the neck, sleeves, the low waist, and hem, and an appliqued 8 diameter pumpkin centered on the chest. It is, apparently, hand sewn. There are no issues with the dress itself. The lace trim and the pumpkin are somewhat faded, now a light orange color. There are several places where the lace has come loose from the gown, and needs to be re-sewn. The dress is, I guess, a petite size. This appears to be a generation one mask with cotton tshirt hood, side lines along cheeks are visible, eyes are irregularly shaped, there are the 3 dimples in the mouth, the nose is a bit twisted. The cotton hood has a split in the seam at the top of head and an old stitched area on seam at the lower back. There’s a couple of tiny holes in cotton fabric behind the chin where it attaches.
