Antique Child Children’s theater costume Vintage play Frick collection textile
Hello and welcome to the Textile Trunk! I wish so much I knew what play this was used for! This textile is an antique, American child’s costume dating c1900 this textile came from the collection of the Gradaughter of Frick, founder of the Frick museum in New York. This piece is made of black velvet and the cream toned fabric is a woven silk, heavy weight This costume is lined and there is a gorgeous gold satin trim around the inside edges. The collar is cotton, heavily stained with storage marks. There are metallic threads on the arms that would have been tied in a pattern at one point. This is a wonderful, rare textile. Ideal for any collection. Waist : 22 inches around. Sleeves 15 inches long. Chest is approximately 26-27 inches around. CONDITION : This lovely textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. There are dark storage stains on the collar. There are some small marks here and there, but generally it’s in lovely condition. The ties on the sleeves can be tied again in any pattern. Etsy Children’s clothing 78. I would not wear this now, since there are tears and could easily tear at this age. Elastic around wrists and legs are adjustable. Approx measures: inseam-30″ underarm length – 18″ chest – 36″x2″ length – 57. CONDITION : Not too tattered to put on mannequin or maybe a thin model to pose. Thinking the holes can be somewhat mended. Obvious holes include 8″ across crotch, 8″ slit on bottom of right leg liner type fabric. Smaller tear on other side. A couple faint white streaks at left side neckline. Neckline fabric worn torn at drawstring as shown. A couple of small holes. Hat cardboard is broken and other lesser antique wear. RARE 1920s Antique Halloween Costume Fortune Teller Turban with Bakelite Hoops
1920s Fortune Teller Turban – 1920s Halloween Costume – 1920s Fortune Teller Costume – 1920s Turban – 20s Deco Turban – 1920s Occult Turban. Out of this world and I must be out of my mind to let it go. This incredible piece is from an extensive private collection. All original 1920s custom construction. Regarded as a costume piece and truly one of a kind. The foundation is a crude structure of sturdy wrapped wire covered in a natural fiber netting overlay. The exterior is covered in a semi lustrous black silk and features a stunning cerulean blue velvet crescent moon at front. The moon is detailed with bold black jet beading and features a genuine horse hair plume. Attached to either side are grass green bakelite hoops that are intended to represent hoop earrings. Holy moly they thought of everything! Such an incredible piece. Condition is listed as good. With consideration to the custom construction, this piece has endured because of it’s sturdy foundation. There are spilts and small areas of shattering to the silk noted throughout although primarily at the rear. No structural damage and the original embellishments appear to be fully intact.
