Vintage Folk Art Halloween Costume Handmade Indian Native American 1950’s Cape
Vintage Folk Art Halloween Costume Handmade Indian Native American 1950’s Cape. This 1950’s homemade Halloween costume was acquired from a woman who’s mother made this for her and her brother when they were in grade school. The cape has the name, Alan J. Groos” written on the inside collar and the hat has the name, ” Lilly Groos written on the inside. The Uncle Sam style hat is made of construction and tissue paper and measures 6 tall. The cape is made of a thick canvas cloth material. It measures 33 long from back collar to the bottom. I believe the drawings were made using a mix of crayon, colored pencil and paint. The drawings are all Native American imagery. There are no holes or rips to the cape. Mild staining from age. The hat has some staining and loss of tissue paper. This is truly a one of a kind piece that blends folk art and Halloween into one. Pictures serve as additional description. Please contact me with any questions or for more photos.
