THE legendary Quiet On The Set H88/H4 by Scott Spencer based off one several screen worn relics from set taken/given some 31 years ago, internationally regarded as THE most accurate representation of the infamous and unorthodox, emotionless faces of the entire series. Crofader from all the message boards was fortunate enough to arrange ownership of one of six on screen used Heroes and THESE particular “DAMNED’88″s were the first of of many attempts at cracking the finest version of the slowly but naturally deteriorating pink painted white Shatner/Kirk masks. The essence of what separates the H4 far away from the other masks is still in the glass enclosed original Damned and this particular mask has even gone through an enlarging phase with different guys helping the owner out so the world has ALSO seen the “DAMNED 388″, as recently as November past. Just a larger rendition, but to me, completely changed the overall appearance, forever losing specific line and crease tie ins, especially in the eyes and the mouth areas. This Damned’88 HAS the undeniable, muted look, or what I’d especially call the’sadness’ look to the facial pattern. The Damned definitely has it, which is why this mask always brings a quick silence to an H4 mask discussion, because although sure there’s dozens of other artists who are skilled at tracking images from overhead projectors from movie shots etc, Scott Spencer had as much time as he needed to sit right next to the actual Hero used in scenes in which the neck extension would be added so the mask could be tucked into the coveralls just like original film, as well as much needed enlargements to the blacked out eyes and overall facial structure including the mouth and cheek zone, where original stunt coordinator Tom Morga has a slimmer frame and jawline and just simply endured’stretching’ out the screen worn’Hero’ the old fashioned way: dozens upon dozens of takes and physically transforming the “Shape”, literally through heat and sudden movements. At 6’2, it wouldn’t take much for either actor in the role to impose an immediately noticeable organic and’worn’ appearance. The enlarging of the eyeholes for better visibility, adding of the black mesh to the eyes to eliminate any eye color inconsistency, but most importantly, any inadvertent emotion, were very effective. James Carter’s work to Scott’s replica brings an undeniably, heavy textured and worn appearance to the piece, even toward the chin and esophageal area, wear the ghostly white paint would’ve been slowly degrading back to the natural high overly pink tone accidentally ordered on the’88 set. C brought it directly to where it would’ve be simulated to using his years and touch to literally thousands of Myers masks from all film releases and eras. With this Damned’88, the larger eye cuts and painting were brought to the man where usually no expense is even considered as a liability. With reputable artists, you DEFINITELY get what you pay for and Carter’s work is of the caliber you’re doubtful to find ANY Myers collector or enthusiast to debate or disagree when it comes to his touch, advice and execution to ANY custom mask overhauls. This Damned’88 is so meticulously manicured from the bottom of the extension to the crisp, sharp angles of the side burns, the H4 fanatic fortunate enough to have brought this QOTS monster home, chose as wisely as one can. Finding these in this condition and then to discover JC’s work was also involved is beyond a special acquirement to anyone’s collection. Staring at him right now from across the room, side by side with NAG’s H’88 is one HELL of a sight to take in for sure. The both of them together is simply too much, so I’ll live with my first and my all time favorite, the NAG H’88, which right now, is GREAT news for you my friend. Bring home a new strange house fellow and immediately feel the character buildup a mile away as you put that next long on the fire. It WILL happen here too. LET IT BE YOU! Head with stand I’ve been using exclusively since’98 is yours too. Just let me know in advance. The item “2015 QOTS JAMES J.
