Here is a child’s Halloween costume from Ben Cooper in the mid-sixties. The theme is Lost in Space. Box is undamaged, aside from minor wear from age. Lost in Space labeling is quite legible. A generic astronaut mask is what came originally with this costume, and it is present with original elastic and no breaks. The rayon material in these costumes tends to darken with age, and this one is no exception – please see pictures. There is some fraying of the red tie at the collar and at the extremities of the sleeves and pants. Not bad though for a sixty year-old item! This is a “Must-have” for the serious Lost in Space collector.

Mask has some wear and discoloration. Items box has some wear as well along with the plastic cover shield disatached. Garment has definitely seen better days. Major wear and discoloration I would say. I also don’t know what an original one should look like. Please see photos for a more accurate description??

This is The Ghoul, released in 1966 by Collegeville Costume as part of their Monster-Glo Costumes 3200 line. The costumes in this line come with a reflecta-lite mask, which are silver reflective spots on the mask, and a glow-in-the-dark image on the costume. Unfortunately, the glow-in-the-dark parts of this costume seem to have lost their glow, but maybe I didn’t give it enough time in the light before testing it in darkness. Having owned hundreds of these types of vintage costumes, this mask and costume look unused. There are however, issues from age. The mask is in excellent condition, with only two small cracks, one on each side of the chin. There are also some light darkish spots in the neon yellow areas and the nose. This could be from the mask rubbing up against the plastic box window. The costume looks unused, but has brown age spots on the green sleeves and on the tan pants. This is especially noticeable where the pants were folded. The top has a 2″ split in the fabric from the corner of the left eye to the forehead, and another 1.5″ split right above that, on the head. On close inspection, the fabric of the pants also have teeny-tiny micro splits throughout. The front of the box has a tear on the right side, above the black cat’s tail and is slightly squished in the bottom, right corner. There is a crease across the black cat’s paws. The plastic window is only attached at one corner and has scuffs on the inside from the mask rubbing up against it. The inside of the box has brown age spots.
